Whitby Baptist -
We're all about 5 G's !
Being the church has nothing to do with a building, but has everything to do with being fully engaged in a Christ-centred worshipping community. To be a member means that I am connected, I am a part of something that is much bigger than just me and what I want.
Being a member of a Church is not about meeting the needs of the individual, but about the individual becoming fruitful and fulfilled by taking up his/her place within the community.
The role of each and every member is absolutely critical to the health and vitality of the church. The nature of the church, the body of Christ requires its members to be fully engaged – for each part to do its work.
At Whitby Baptist Church, we strive to be a functional family. We seek to be a family that not only believes in Christ and encourages belonging, but also holds to the important principle of becoming.
The point is not just to know and support one another, it is for us to know Christ and support His purposes.
Church is much more than trying to find new ways to make everyone feel more comfortable, more satisfied, or even happy! We want much more than an inward focus and “club-like” feel. The point is not just to know and support one another, it is for us to know Christ and support His purposes.
We have agreed together at there are 5 benchmarks of in our life together. In our relentless pursuit of becoming, we can view these benchmarks as 5 G’s.
We are all over the idea of 5 G’s

GRACE – we are people who have experienced the unmerited love of Jesus Christ - a love that not only continues to transform us, but can also transform others, our relationships, our time, our efforts and our passions.
GATHERING – we gather together as a community to worship. In so doing we seek to encourage and inspire one another to offer God our very best.
GROWTH – we make growth in both the knowledge of the Christ-like life and the living out of that life a priority.
GIFTS – we strive to use the spiritual gift given to us by God for the building up of Christ’s Church and the extending of His glorious Kingdom.
GIVING - we believe that it is our job to provide the financial resources to fund the mission and ministry that God has given us. God calls us to not only give regularly, proportionately and cheerfully but right off the top of our finances.
As we relentlessly pursue these 5 G’s, not only are our lives transformed, but together we become a movement that God can use to transform the very neighbourhoods in which we live, work and play.
We want you to help us become more Christ-like as individuals, and to help us as a church to look more like Christ in the community.
